HAGGIS SUPPER AND CEILIDH
The Leicester Caledonian Society has organised another Haggis Supper and ceilidh to be held in the Countesthorpe Village Hall on Saturday 19th March from 7pm for 7.30 to 11pm. A warm welcome will be extended to local residents joining us for this event.
The evening will include ceilidh dancing to accordion music by Peter Scatterty, pipe band music, a Scottish country dancing display by the local RSCDS dance display team, a gentle quiz, a raffle and drinks purchased from the bar. The supper will be Scottish haggis from Dumfries plus tatties and neeps plus a vegetarian version if pre-booked plus a dessert and tea or coffee.
Honoured guests will include Presidents from other Scottish Societies in the east midlands extending from Derby to Huntingdon.
As this event has proved very popular previously, early booking is advised and please note ENTRY IS BY PRE PAID TICKET ONLY.

BEEKEEPER?
Well now you can with the Leicestershire and Rutland Beekeepers Association! Join us and learn all about it by enjoying the new courses for 2016 that will start on March 8th. For the beginners we have a 5-week theory course which will cover all the background to beekeeping plus an opportunity to ‘meet the bees’ at one of our apiaries. The course costs £25 plus Association membership fee.
The course is designed to prepare participants for the practical course, which runs over 11 weeks (one evening per week) from early May to mid-July. People attending the theory course will be guaranteed a place on the practical course, if they wish to continue.
All classes are led by experienced beekeepers at our two training sites in
the north and south of Leicestershire. You will get to handle bees and learn all the skills needed to work with them safely and have hives of your own.
Once the course is over, you’re not left on your own. Support and mentoring are available throughout the year. We also run additional intermediate and advanced beekeeping courses FREE for members who wish to take their training further. Other membership benefits include:
