Countesthorpe Rainbow Shop, tucked away next door to St Andrew’s Church and opposite the Co op, is open every morning and a few afternoons each week to sell a variety of Whole food, nearly new clothes, brick a brac, and a popular range of cards. We offer a friendly place to come and enjoy a drink and a chat while knowing that all profits go to Christian Aid so helping folk all over the world. A VERY GOOD
WI WEEK
Monday February 11th found 44 Ladies of the WI waiting expectantly for that evening’s speaker, Helen Bull, to begin. A cookery demonstration, what tips would she give? What was she going to make? We weren’t disappointed. A vegetable flan, a chicken dish, baked salmon and a pudding all followed in quick succession. We had to taste of course and they were delicious and very easy to do. What tips? Well we all know how awkward and time consuming it is to get lemon zest out of those tiny holes in a grater with a knife, so use a pastry brush instead. Why didn’t we think of that?
On Shrove Tuesday 55 ladies from various WI’s were at the Cornerstone for the annual Pancake Supper but we had fish and chips from our local chippy and very nice they were too. Supper was followed by a word game which involved tossing a pancake to signify you’d found all the words, well they had to be in there somewhere didn’t they? It was a very enjoyable evening and we are all looking forward to the next event.
We meet every second Monday of the month, 7.15pm, in the Village Hall, come and join us!

A year-on-year decline in customers wishing to make cash payments at both locations has significantly increased the costs associated with cash receipting, security and transportation.
Neil Briggs, Customer Access & Electoral Services Manager, said: “We now have safer and easier alternatives for people, and whilst the number of customers choosing to pay by direct debit continues to increase, we also offer a 24 hours payment line, and continually improve online payment options for customers to chose from.”
Customers who receive a barcoded bill may pay by card or cash at over 50 outlets across the district by visiting any Post Office or outlet displaying the PayPoint logo.
In a response to a change in demand, cash
payments at Blaby District Council’s
Narborough office and the Customer
Service Centre at Braunstone Civic
Centre will no longer be accepted from to access your Council Tax information, Friday 1 April.
