All the children and staff of Greenfield Primary School have worked really hard over the past five years to come away with five Gold School games Marks and now achieving Platinum. There aren’t many schools that have this award and it is testament to the work done by the school. A massive thank You to Learning South Leicestershire School Sports Partnership for all their help along the way. They offer so much to our area.
HERTS RUMBLE FOR BEN
Just one entry from Countesthorpe Judo Club in the Shizentai Rumble at the University of Hertfordshire. Well done Ben Meadows-Smith winning a gold medal.
One official said “The Shizentai team were fantastic, making my club members feel welcome at their event. Everyone had a fair go and the camaraderie was really good. We will definitely be back next year”
Our photo shows the team with The Champions Cup which was presented after the final game. All members were also presented with Division 6 medals.
WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!
Promotion to the 3rd Division of the Alliance Football League became a reality for the Bulls Head Old Boys when they beat BLS on 7th May by 6 goals to 3. The final match of the season the following week, when they drew 1 - 1, confirmed their unbeaten record for the 2022/23 season having won 16 of their 19 matches and drawn 3.
The team is now looking forward to the challenge of playing in a higher division and at a new home venue, The Meadows on Leicester Road. As Division 6 Champions, and based on a points system operated by The Alliance League, the Bulls Head Old Boys will now face opposition from 10 teams in the 3rd Division whose home grounds are based in an area covering Coalville, Melton Mowbray and Wigston.
The team was previously called United Revolution and was based at Huncote for 9 seasons. Ross Griffin has played for the club since 2013/14 and, with 205 matches under his belt, has made the most appearances. This season was the first for the team playing as the Bulls Head Old Boys, their average age is 33 years!
The leading goal scorer for last season was Leon Anthony with 15 goals to his credit. The team had a clean sheet for 8 games with a goal difference of 54 in the League (70 goals scored for and 16 against.) Five members of the team retired at the end of the season so new members are being signed on with the opportunity of playing in friendly matches at The Meadows from 30th July. The first League match is on 3rd September. Anyone interested in playing should contact Cam at the Bulls Head. Good luck!
