DECEMBER 2023
GOOD HARVEST
FOR FOODBANK
Thank you for all your fantastic Harvest donations! Our shelves are looking well stocked thanks to you all after receiving over 2,200kg of food and supplies from your Harvest collections.
We have had another busy few weeks including one session in Countesthorpe where we fed 37 people in 2 hours; sadly breaking a record for the most number of people provided for in one session. We know as the weather turns and Christmas is hurtling towards us, demand for our services will increase further. Please do check our website and social media for details of our most needed food items so that we can meet that demand. A huge thank you to Countesthorpe Parish Council for involving us in the Christmas celebrations on 2nd December. Look out for volunteers collecting food and essential items for us around the village and please donate if you are able.
We work closely with local referral agencies to ensure people are accessing the right levels of support that is available but often, that support is simply not enough. If you are struggling, please do not suffer in silence.
Please do reach out to one of our referral agency partners, who can support you and refer you to our services if required. THE NEW COUNTESTHORPE HERALD 13
provide some seasonal music - the youngsters of our village school always bring a lively atmosphere with their wonderful talents. Drop in at anytime between 10am and 2.30pm to browse the decorations and have some refreshments. Admission is free.
All the trees are left in place until New Year, giving the chapel a special seasonal feel for the Advent and Christmas Services - regular Sunday service is at 10am and details of Christmas Services are elsewhere in The Herald and on the church noticeboard; everyone is most welcome to attend.
Whilst at the Christmas Tree Festival, you can also find details of the groups and organisations that use the premises and maybe find a new hobby or social activity – and next year you might be involved in decorating a tree for 2024!
   METHODIST CHRISTMAS
TREE FESTIVAL
Make a note in your diary for Saturday 9th December to drop in at your local Christmas Tree Festival at the Methodist Church on Wigston Street, with added entertainment of tombola, tea, coffee, refreshments, stalls, music and jacket potatoes served over lunchtime.
This year will be Countesthorpe Methodist Church’s 12th Christmas Tree Festival. As usual, each of the many groups who use the church premises have been invited to decorate a tree, this year’s theme being “Christmas Characters” – we’ll have to wait and see who turns up; maybe The Magi or maybe Scrooge!
Choir and musicians from Greenfield Primary School have been invited to
