DECEMBER 2023
THE NEW COUNTESTHORPE HERALD 15
HIGHWAY CODE CHANGES
I have deep sympathy with the lady who wrote the article in your last issue. The changes were not widely publicised and as a result not many people are aware of the them. Even when the Lollipop lady is on duty cars do not stop for her so what hope is there for the ordinary pedestrian. There is only one crossing that I have found where drivers stop for pedestrians and that is in Blaby by the Parade.

He moved away from the village to university where he ran for Liverpool Harriers, placing well in local and national competitions including winning the Bath half marathon.
After leaving university Ash started work in London before moving to work in Qatar where he swapped from running on mud to running on sand! He won the Abu Dhabi 10k before joining a triathlon club and beginning a new strand to his career, achieving third place in the National Triathlon series.
After returning to the UK he continued with both cross country and triathlon.
He represented Great Britain in Abu Dhabi in the World Triathlon Championship in November 2022 achieving 21st place and recently qualified for the European Duathlon championships for 2024.
Ash has always enjoyed competing and all his hard work and training paid off with a silver world medal and I am excited to see where his career takes him next. Debbie Chambers
