4 THE NEW COUNTESTHORPE HERALD
SHARING STORIES SONG
AND MUSIC
Continued from front page
She and her accompanist, Stefan Andrusyschyn, wowed the audience with a variety of film music. The concert was compered by Dave Andrews DL who introduced Libby Clegg MBE, an inspirational paralympic gold medal winning sportswoman who spoke about her life. Local musicians, Mark Hemmings and Andy Carvill, introduced the audience to the soothing sound of the harmonica and Slavko Madylus charmed the audience with his personal stories and songs from Ukraine. Musical Village duets, ensembles and choirs entertained with a range of music for every taste, but it was the Vista Voices choir and soloists who stole everyone’s hearts with their amazing singing. Thanks to The Stoneygate Eye Hospital for sponsoring the event and to St Andrew’s Church for providing such a wonderful and versatile venue.

SQUIRRELS OPENS IN
COUNTESTHORPE!
On 21st September, we were thrilled
to open our doors to Squirrels for the
first time! Our new Section for 4 and
5 year olds began with a bang, as the
confetti fell over our first ever Squirrel
Scouts, accompanied by their leaders, and
local Councillors who had joined us for
opportunity to more young people over the coming months and we have lots of exciting activities planned – including a trip to Curve to watch ‘The Owl who came to Christmas’, woodland walks and bread making!
A huge thank you to all of the volunteers who have worked so hard over the last few months to make this new Section possible, making adjustments at the hut, registering our new Squirrels and planning their programme – looking forward to Squirrels being a big part of our events and activities for many years to come!
