Hopefully the Herald team will find room for a picture or two from the Flower Festival held in mid June with lots of visitors from a wide area enjoying the arrangements refreshments and stalls and also winning lots of prizes in the raffle – as we found out delivering them! We were pleased to welcome our new curate and look forward to him joining the services on the second and fourth Sundays of each month at 9.15 –it is a lovely old church and well worth a visit!

(Labour Party) - 12,758
Bill Piper (Reform UK) - 10,235
Paul Michael Hartshorn (Liberal Democrats) - 7,621 Mike Jelfs (Green Party) - 2,481
Ballot papers issued: 51,542 for an electorate of 78,511. Turnout: 66%

SUPERSTORE CLOSING
The Suite Superstore in Barwell is closing after more than two decades of supplying local people with furniture for their homes.
The retail company has launched a closing down sale, offering huge discounts throughout the store, which will run for a few weeks.
Selling beds, mattresses, sofas, chairs, dining and bedroom furniture, the family- run business has remained popular in the area for over 25 years. The company’s decision to close was prompted by the lease expiring and, subsequently, its decision not to renew a new lease agreement.
Company Director Paul Bancroft says that closing the store has been a difficult decision. He said: “We are very proud of our longevity but feel that now is the time to close here. We would like to thank all our customers who have supported the business over the years. We have enjoyed providing a friendly service selling and delivering furniture to local people, who were happy to recommend us to family and friends, as well as repeat customers who we have got to know well.”
The stock clearance sale at the large showroom in Dawsons Lane, Barwell, will see reductions on all its remaining stock. Opening times are Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday is now 11am to 2pm.
