ACADEMY STUDENTS
DO WELL IN EXAMS
Countesthorpe Academy is thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievements of both our Year 11 and Sixth Form students in their GCSEs, A-Levels, and Level 3 qualifications this summer.
Our A-Level and Level 3 students have excelled, with their results showcasing the dedication and commitment they have maintained over the last two years. Securing places on a range of courses such as Economics at the University of Leicester, International Disaster Management at the University of Manchester, Theology at the University of Leeds, and Environmental Science at the University of Plymouth, our students are headed toward bright futures. Many have also chosen to pursue apprenticeships across a range of disciplines, a growing alternative to traditional degrees. Following these A-Level successes, our Year 11 students also delivered an impressive set of results.
Many of our top achievers secured grades 8s and 9s across the board, a reflection of their incredible resilience, determination, and hard work. Several students overcame particularly challenging circumstances, making their progress even more remarkable. We are incredibly proud of all our students, who embody the Countesthorpe Academy values.
Their achievements reflect not only their hard work but also the unwavering support of our dedicated staff. We are delighted that so many Year 11 students will be continuing their journey with us in our Sixth Form.
These fantastic results, from GCSEs to A-Levels, are a testament to the resilience, perseverance, and ambition of our students, who have made incredible progress in the face of adversity. We couldn’t be prouder of all they have achieved.
Catherine Aitcheson, Countesthorpe Academy’s headteacher said: “Our students have been brilliant and have worked relentlessly to ensure they got the best possible grades. The dedication, commitment to working hard and support of the staff has ensured our students are ‘the best they can be’. We are so proud of all our students and their achievements today, and they all should be congratulated on a brilliant set of results; there is a huge amount to celebrate.”

THE NEW COUNTESTHORPE HERALD 13
24th anniversary of their annual golf tournament broke its own fundraising record achieving over £16,500. The tournament held at Lingdale Golf Club saw over 100 golfers and representatives from twenty-four regional corporates in attendance.
Since the tournament’s beginning, monies raised have benefited local older people through targeted funds reacting to the annual needs. This year, the charity allocated funds to a Cost-of-Living Resilience Fund specifically created to respond to the Government’s decision to revoke the Winter Fuel Payment.
The day started with all players networking over breakfast. 11 o’clock saw the shotgun from across the course, commencing this year’s golf tournament, with local business JL Surveyors clinching 1st Prize and the Charity Shield.
Tony Donovan, Executive Director, said “The day is nothing without the support of local businesses, players, and sponsors. We were extremely fortunate to see so many donating to this year’s fundraiser resulting in a record total amount.
It was clear that our message connected with so many people on the day, particularly considering the difficult daily decisions thousands of older people will have to face this Winter. In 2024, no one should have to make the choice between heating or eating, especially those who are most vulnerable.”
