PARKINSON’S GROUP
I have emphasised many times in these columns the value of meeting together to socialise, share problems and generally realise that you are not alone. This is obviously so true of many things that we are faced with in life.
A couple attending our weekly Friday ‘Movement to Music’ sessions recently commented, “For the first time we realised that we were not alone on the Parkinson’s journey”. That says such a lot about the Group and I am so pleased that this column has perhaps played a part in increasing the membership of the local group [it’s free membership by the way], so that we regularly have 70 attending our Sunday gatherings.
In August nearly 50 from the group descended on Market Bosworth and followed an hour’s self guided walk around the town centre, starting and ending at the Bosworth Hall Hotel, where everyone then enjoyed a Classic Afternoon Tea in one of the lovely lounges. A member had wanted to subsidise an event to benefit

as many as possible to say thanks to the group, in memory of his late wife.
The Bosworth Hall staff looked after everyone well and the whole afternoon was greatly enjoyed – both the ‘gentle perambulation around Bosworth’, uncovering many surprise features, and the sandwiches, cakes, cream scones, teas and coffee which followed.
