staff who will therefore need to use the public computers to respond to any enquiries regarding library stock. It was recommended to contact LCC as this is not acceptable: internet access for staff is a vital tool. It was recommended to use the Clerk’s email address for the library. It is understood
that there are items, which were purchased via S106 funding for Countesthorpe Library: it was recommended to contact LCC to ensure that
these are retained. It was recommended to obtain an inventory of all the existing stock. It was recommended to forward the surrender of lease document to the solicitors and trustees: this was not approved as it was noted that there was no reference to the surrender of lease being ‘free’ and there appears to be discrepancies with the dates on the document. It was recommended for the working party to review the revenue details on the Service Level Agreement.
LIBRARY WORKING PARTY
Draft Lease – the surrender of the lease documentation has been received, however certain items have not been included. Once clarification has been received the document will be brought before the Parish Council for approval and then sent to the Solicitors with a copy to the Trustees. Update – the Parish Council is registered with
the Information Commissioners Office for data protection, which covers them to run any public service. As library staff must have access to the internet on their computers, it was recommended to pursue its retention with Library Services. It was resolved to approve four additional opening hours per week. It was recommended to review the draft agreement to quantify what is to remain in the library. VAT implications are still being investigated. It was resolved to obtain clarification of the auxiliary staffing details.
It was resolved to approve the recommendations of the working party.
THE EVENTS WORKING PARTY
Christmas Spectacular – it was recommended to order blue lights to enhance the ‘Frozen’ theme. A street dance group has been invited to perform. Communication – the working party are currently investigating Facebook and other communication websites.
Commemoration of the Queen being the longest reigning monarch – it was recommended that
it is an open event from 7 pm to 9 pm. There
will be displays in the hall. The Royal Society
of St George would like to have a display in the hall: this was resolved. It was recommended to ascertain whether any other groups or societies would like to have a display, provided there was a connection with the event. It was recommended to invite Countesthorpe College to play outside for the dedication. It was suggested to open the bar for the event: this was resolved.
Library Open Public Event – the comments book is still in the library.
YOUTH WORK, INC MONTHLY REPORT
A report is no longer being sent, it was therefore resolved to remove this item from the agenda.

CALLING ALL KNITTERS!
IT’S TIME TO JOIN THE BIG KNIT FOR AGE UK
Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland is calling on nimble-fingered knitters in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland to get creative and knit little hats for Age UK and innocent’s Big Knit to help older people keep warm and well in winter. Now in its 12th year, The Big Knit returns and budding knitters across the UK are being called upon to knit miniature woolly hats to adorn innocent smoothie bottles, which will be sold in stores nationwide from February 2016. For each be-hatted smoothie sold, innocent will donate 25p to help Age UK fund their winter projects. Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland is calling on local knitters to get as many hats as possible to them by the end of November latest to meet their challenging target of 42,000 and needs knitters and those wanting to give it a go to make this a reality.
Each winter, one older person dies needlessly every eight minutes because of the cold . With over a decade of support from knitters up and down the country, The Big Knit has raised vital funds to help older people keep warm and well in winter.
Last year alone, more than 800,000 hats were lovingly created, with designs
including a bird cage, fruit, soldiers, peas in a pod, a bee’s nest, a crown and fishermen with their catch.
Peter Ralphs, Business Development Manager at Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland said: “The colder months of the year can be really tough for many older people who can face difficulties protecting themselves from the harsh winter weather, getting out and about and staying connected. That’s why it’s so important that local knitters get behind The Big Knit to help raise funds for vital local winter services. We need our knitters to create lots of miniature hats so we can keep helping older people in the local area.”
