26 THE NEW COUNTESTHORPE HERALD
OCTOBER 2015
GUITAR GENIUS AT
LAUNDE ABBEY
Classical guitar fans will be in for a treat on Sunday, 11th October, when Launde Abbey hosts a magical evening of entertainment in its medieval Chapel. Steve Bean will perform a selection of classical guitar pieces, with flamenco influences, as well as compositions by John Williams, Ludovico Einaudi and Isaac Albeniz. Also included in the programme will be contemporary works by The Beatles, Queen and Sting. Suzanne Simons, the event organiser said: “We are delighted to be able to offer this event in our event calendar. Steve is a wonderful guitarist who brings to life some gorgeous music and it is most fitting that he will be playing in our beautiful medieval Chapel, where the acoustics are superb and there is an air of peace and
calm. I was so impressed with Steve’s work when I saw him for the first time that I booked him on the spot!”
The concert starts at 5.30 pm on Sunday afternoon, with a bar available from 5pm. There will be a short interval when a complimentary glass of wine will be served. The evening will finish at around 8pm.
This event is one of series of music events featuring musicians from a wide range of genres. The guitar concert is the first of two classical concerts this autumn, the second will feature Charlotte Rowan, an up and coming classical violinist with a talent way beyond her years.
The price for the concert is £15 per person which will include a glass of wine.

IS YOUR CHILD
STRAPPED IN
PROPERLY?
Local officers and Road Safety Officers from Leicester City Council take part in Child Seat Safety Event
During the event vehicles were checked to ensure that child car seats had been fitted correctly and that they were appropriate for the child, for example that the child was not too small/big for the seat.
The event took place at Meridian Leisure Park on Lubbersthorpe Way.
3 OUT OF 112 PASSED
112 vehicles were checked, however only three passed the inspection. Of the other 109 vehicles, four were told they could not leave the site until the correct seats had been brought to the site, this included one private hire vehicle. The rest were given advice and had the seat fitted correctly.
PC Stuart Clough said: “It is really worrying the amount of cars that didn’t have the seats fitted correctly. At the end of the day this could have devastating consequences if the car was in an accident. “We would like to urge people to check their child’s car seat is fitted properly every time they make a journey.” Leicester City Council Road Safety Officers handed out advice leaflets, key rings and stickers to drivers whilst checking their vehicles.
The majority of drivers were supportive and most welcomed the safety checks. For more information on fitting your child seat please see the Leicester City Council website: http://www. leicester.gov.uk/transport-and-
