OCTOBER 2015 THE NEW COUNTESTHORPE HERALD 25
BIRKETT HOUSE SENIORS @ COUNTESTHORPE COLLEGE
WE’RE ALL GOING ON A...
BIRKETT HOUSE STUDENT HOLIDAYS
The new Leicester City manager is called Claudio Ranieri. He is the best manager ever and will help Leicester City. He is a wise man. He said Leicester have started really well but there will bad times.
Let’s hope the bad times are not for very long.
My dream this season is for Leicester to win the league cup and finish in the top ten.
I will see Leicester City play against Aston Villa on Sunday and I will see Leicester City play against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium.
My prediction is the score is 4-0 to Leicester against Aston Villa and the score will be 3-0 to Leicester city against Stoke City.
We all had a FABULOUS Summer Holiday, and we’d like to tell you all about it... Aimee discovered the filmic wonders of magical Disney potions: “Alice drank something in a bottle and she shrank! She was as big as a mouse!”... Casey and her family took a wander in the woods: “We looked around and found an animal skull with horns.” The Big Bad Wolf in disguise perhaps?... Isaac did a spot of travelling with his carer: “We ate nice,” he reports, but “we did not go to the beach because it was too cold.” Hope the food was a more digestible temperature... Maddie’s holiday was part air and part water: “I went on a cruise with my family. We had to get up at 3:00 in the morning to get to our flight. We were flying to Venice!” Did her cruise ship squeeze its way through the famous canals?... Matt’s holiday was as chilled as a freezer: “I was playing football on my X-Box and I was sleeping.” Likely not at the same time... Millie mixed football – “I saw Forest” – with equestrian pursuits: “I went horse riding.” Can you see polo in this young lady’s future?... Alisha spent her birthday out on the Big Town: “We went to London. When we got there we ate some food and after that we danced.” Now that’s the way to celebrate!... Thomas pursued a surprisingly dry island- hopping theme: “We were on Cyprus driving for ages through the Cypriot desert.” Water, water everywhere... Scarlett caught a scent of Aimee’s Disney magic: “I went to Disneyland Paris. The Haunted Mansion was relaxing and dark.”
Dark, certainly – but relaxing? That’s one chilled young lady... Harry took a step back into technology’s past: “I researched some old BBC and Disney VHS tapes. I like old tapes.” Yes Harry, but the player can’t eat your DVD... Kieran tells us about “going to an air show and to Legoland”. Hope the aeroplanes were made of sturdier stuff than the Legoland buildings... Callum transplanted Winter into the heart of his Summer: “I went to Coventry ice-skating.” And we thought Scarlett was chilled!... James reports that “watching Leicester beat Sunderland 4-2” was the highlight of his holiday. A note of home-town pride in this globe-hopping summer season... Jamie’s summer was an authentic British classic: “In the morning we went to the beach. I helped make the sand castle. We went in the sea and I was sunbathing in the beautiful sun.” Wherever we were, whatever we did, our students had a TREMENDOUS holiday – and we hope you did too!
MR LEICESTER CITY
Hi, what a shock! Last time I wrote I thought Nigel Pearson would be with us forever! Now he’s gone!
This is your Leicester City supporter Jamie Smallwood here and I will update you on Leicester City.
Leicester City started with a win and were top of the table at the beginning of the season. Two wins against Sunderland and West Ham. Wow! We drew against Tottenham and against Bournemouth.

CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT
by Thomas Bannister
While the sun is in the sky
They don’t come out, instead they hide. But when the sun goes away,
The children all come out to play. Under the watch of Mother Luna, They run, dance, laugh Throughout the dark,
They play their games,
And skip down the nighttime paths. When dawn breaks
And the sun wakes up,
The children go to bed,
And dreams of when the moon comes back
Dance merrily in their heads.
