FREE FIRST AID
TRAINING
J.L.King was formed in 2014 to provide first aid cover for the communities within the area. Over the past year our volunteers have had many events to cover and we have gained a good reputation, with event organisers hearing about us through word of mouth.
We were a St. John Ambulance unit (Broughton Astley) and had our meetings at Countesthorpe Village Hall. We all resigned from the St. John because we felt that they are moving away from the original core element of providing first aid to the communities and also charging very high prices to cover events.
So far we have covered events locally and some in the county, Market Harborough, Loughborough and Syston etc. we have also had a request for us to cover an event in Kent for June 2016.
However our aim is to provide and to be a part of the community. we have already covered Countesthorpe Community Fun Day free of charge. Had this been covered by the St John ambulance the event bill would have cost £120 + VAT.
We have now decided to provide free first aid sessions to the community. These first aid sessions will take place on 3rd October 2015 they are 2 x 2hr sessions 9-11 and 11.30-13.30 this will take place at the village hall and during that time
we are holding a coffee morning in the Lounge for members of the public to have a coffee with us. all money raised from the coffee morning will be donated to the countesthorpe community fund.
INTRODUCING A LINK
BETWEEN PAPER AND
THE WEB
In this issue of the Herald we have started printing QR codes (abbreviated from Quick Response Code). First designed
THE NEW COUNTESTHORPE HERALD 9
for the automotive industry in Japan. The patterned square is a machine-readable optical label that contains information such as a web URL or email address. Smart phones, tablets and iPads can read the QR code using free downloadable apps and will open the web page.
For quite a number of issues we have been including long, detailed URLs that would require dedication to transcribe into the address bar of a web browser. We hope this will provide a workable alternative. Please send us your thoughts.
