INSPIRING EVENING
Countesthorpe Scouts had the pleasure of Mark Williams (Welsh International Wheelchair Rugby team member) to give a talk about his life journey, the challenges he’s faced and his amazing achievements. The Scouts really enjoyed the interactive session, were astounded by Marks achievements and took a lot away from the evening. To round the evening off, leader Matt had a go in Mark’s rugby league wheelchair. Overall a very successful evening and a great way to finish a very busy half term.

SQUIRRELS START IN
SEPTEMBER!
We are thrilled to announce that Squirrels, the exciting new Section for 4-5 year olds to start their time in Scouting, will open in Countesthorpe this September! Work has been going on over the last few months behind the scenes and we are all looking forward to welcoming our first scurry of Squirrels when they meet on 21st September. Every week, Squirrels will gather to grow and learn their way through lots of different games and activities. Squirrels can achieve anything they set their minds to – and they have lots of fun along the way. Our new volunteer leaders are very excited to meet you all and I’m sure you will start to see our brand new Squirrels out and about in the village over the coming months!

OPEN GARDEN THANK YOU
We would just like to say a few words of thank you to all of you who came to our open garden at 4 Packman Green, Countesthorpe. To thank you for your generosity in helping the NGS support the nursing charities like Marie Currie and Macmillan. Not just this year, but over the last 9 years that we have been opening our garden. As you may know, or not know, we will not be opening our garden anymore as we have decided to call it a day.
Many faces over the years we have come to know, not just as visitors, but as friends. And thanks to you all we have raised
£3800 over those years for the NGS charities.
Plants, donations, a cup of tea and of course that all important slice of cake have all contributed to that grand total.
I must personally thank my partner Shirley for baking all those lovely cakes, of which half the time I never got any! Hopefully the plants you bought are still
thriving to remember us by.
A special thank you needs to go to Rosemary Wright who came and honoured us with her wonderful accordion music making us all feel we were in Paris in springtime! And of course not forgetting the Herald for putting us out there.
