   FIVE LOCAL OPEN GARDENS IN AUGUST
During August the National Garden Scheme has 5 gardens opening around the county.
Every Sunday throughout August Honey Trees at 85 Grantham Road, Bottesford, NG13 0EG opens from 11:00 - 4:00. Honey Trees is a tropical garden with lush planting, and hint of the jungle, with ponds and streams it is a botanical paradise created from 20 years plant hunting. Exotic flower beds, meandering pathways, with interesting different climatic zones.
Opening every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 20th August is 221 Markfield Road Groby LE6 0FT from 10-4 each day. This is a lovely south facing garden of around an acre is packed shrubs, trees and late flowering perennials. There are also fishponds, greenhouses and vegetable plots and woodland views.
Another opening on the 6th August is 182 Ashby Road, Hinckley, LE10 1SW from 11-5. This is a cottage style garden, packed with perennials and a small pond to attract frogs and a bog garden area complete with an irrigation system.
There is a greenhouse and potting shed together with plenty of seating to sit and enjoy the different aspects of the garden. The Old Barn, Rectory Lane, Stretton-En- Le-Field, Swadlincote DE12 8AF opens 11-5 over the weekend of 19th and 20th August. Around 2 acres with trees, shrubs, herbaceous planting, cobbled paths, pergola with climbing plants, rewilding meadow, pea fowl and a treasure hunt for children, who have free entry and will love to see all the Peacocks roaming around the garden.
