8 THE NEW COUNTESTHORPE HERALD
ACTIVE ARTS NEWS
We discovered that it is easier to collect in and display all the pictures that featured in our Art display than to return them to their artists but everyone seems to have enjoyed them being on the Greenfield School fence, thanks for that hospitality and of course for the paintings.
A recent workshop led by the talented willow worker Catherine Tregaskes resulted in all the participants creating obelisks like this one Each one is special and will be used in a particular way probably in the next planting season. I think ours will be ideal for my favourites, Sweet Peas, but its creator may just have other ideas and of course he is the gardener.
Saturday October 30th is in many calendars already as the date of our Craft Market at Countesthorpe Academy when we are sure to be busy with lots of early Christmas shopping being done. You need to know that the opening hours are 10 until 4 and there will be refreshments
OCTOBER 2023

After that there will be events leading up to Christmas, and beyond that in 2024 so do please check for details on the website -wwwactivearts.info - or look out for the posters around the village

‘READY SET READ’
Countesthorpe Library’s Summer Reading Challenge for 2023.
We had over 70 children join and read 6 library books, gaining their certificate and medal for completing the challenge. A special well done to our first finishers Harry and Martha Cook (pictured right). Also to Jessica Milligan and Ethan Smith for finishing 3rd and 4th.
A very special well done to Freddie Freeston-Larter who completed our Special Book Bingo and read 30 extra books for the challenge!
Thank you to the Beavers of Countesthorpe for promoting the event for us. They did a fantastic job.
