  QUIZ NIGHT
 HARVEST SUPPER
On Wednesday September 27th a Harvest Supper was held in St. Andrew’s Church. Two long tables had been set up along the whole length of the nave and at each place setting were foil covered plates of meats, pork pie and cheese. To these we could add a variety of salads and chutneys. To follow this we went in turn to choose from a mouth-watering selection of fruit pies and crumbles. We then expressed our thanks for all this goodness in hearty singing of some favourite harvest hymns. Anthony Herbert of Whetstone Pastures Farm gave us a detailed talk on how farming had developed and on the challenges that agriculture faced now, which mattered to all of us.
We then expressed our thanks to the ladies who had prepared this celebratory meal.

On Friday, October 13th another of our popular quizzes was held at the Village Hall. Our Rector the Revd Richard Reakes provided us once again with some teasing questions and with his usual good -humoured firmness accepted only precisely correct answers.
The teams took it all very seriously but it was in a convivial atmosphere with the usual outbursts of joy at guesses which were correct and groans at those which were not. The provided refreshments were very welcome and the hall’s open bar helped too.
To top it all almost £452 was raised towards the church’s building fund.
