WORLD SILVER MEDAL
I am immensely proud to be writing this article for the Herald about the achievement of my son, Ash Chambers, a long-time resident of the village.
After many achievements in his cross country, athletics and triathlon career he recently represented Great Britain at the World Triathlon Championships on 22nd September in Pontevedra, Spain. Ash won a silver medal in the Super Sprint race for his age group.
Ash started his cross country running in Year 4 at Greenfield Primary under Denny Mapp and continued running at Leysland High and Countesthorpe College. He represented both secondary schools in the Leicestershire and Rutland Secondary Schools league and won the English Schools Inter County Championships. Ash was inspired by Denny and her sons and later by Paul Miles when he joined the Owls Athletics Club at Saffron Lane, where he held the County Champion title a number of times.

PICKLEBALL
Are you over 55? Still feel reasonably active ? If this is you ...what about having a go at Pickleball!
It is a racket sport played over a low net on a small ,badminton size, court.
We use a paddle, a bit bigger than a table tennis bat, and an airflow ball (with little holes in).
Through the U3A we have set up a group that meets usually 4 times a month, playing singles and doubles, all different abilities but a very friendly bunch.
The sport is very good for your health; keeping you mobile, getting you out the house, great for mental health, especially
