AUGUST 2024
Notice from the Parish Council:
IMPORTANT INFORMATION PUBLIC PARKING IN THE VILLAGE (INCLUDING
HEALTH CENTRE)
You will by now know that the Countesthorpe Health Centre has introduced parking restrictions. Whilst the Parish Council acknowledges that, in recent years, there have been increased problems with its patients finding parking spaces when attending for appointments, the Parish Council is disappointed that it has got to the extent that the Health Centre has introduced such stringent measures. The Parish Council’s preference for parking is to have some restrictions to allow fair use, but also to allow flexibility for residents to visit the local facilities in the centre of the village, particularly at the weekends and evenings. The Parish Council is also disappointed that the District and County Council have ignored its concerns by granting planning approval for applications in the centre of the village where parking for additional employees,
etc can’t be
accommodated. The Parish Council has previously met with the Health Centre to discuss parking, however, residents should be aware that the car park is privately owned by the practice for the benefit of patients and not to serve other local businesses. The Parish Council would advise residents to familiarise themselves with the new parking restrictions by taking note of the signs within the car park.
An anonymous post on Countesthorpe Current Affairs on Facebook comments; Please be very careful when parking in the surgery with the new parking rules. The signs are ambiguous and don’t clearly explain you have only 90 minutes and must register at the surgery. It is strictly for patients
only. The company who are running the parking scheme sound awful, read the reviews, they are shocking and describe an unscrupulous company :- https://uk.trustpilot. com/review/www. ce-service.co.uk

And please remember the surgery staff have nothing to do with any fines imposed or the company that issue them.
One response to the post was; To be fair just looking at the photo I could read and understand all the restrictions and what I’d need to do (not really any different from any Aldi or the Lidl at Oadby parking rules) and it clearly says maximum of 2 hour in non surgery hours and weekends. As I understand there has been issues recently of people using the car park out of hours and then leaving the car there the following day or days during surgery hours. People complain about the lack of parking so the surgery put measures in to address this as other options clearlyhaven’tworkand
now people complain about the parking restrictions. Not sure these are much different to the parking at the Co-op and you get even less time at Tesco and the council car park is
already used overnight by local residents but never full in the evening so I’m really struggling to see what the issue is to be honest, people abused the car park so they put a
stop to it.
