RALLY AT ST ANDREW’S
On the 1st of October the Fellowship Group joined St Andrew’s for their Mothers’ Union Rally. Richard Jayes of the Baldwin Trust was the speaker. The Trust is a charity providing narrowboat trips with the aim to enhance the well- being of people of all ages, especially those with disabilities, mental illness, social exclusion or isolation.
CAFÉ CHURCH
Our Café Church service in October was based on Mark 10 verses 35-45. It tells of Peter and James asking Jesus if they can sit either side of him in Heaven. Their requests were portrayed in an unusual and visual way, making the message of the service easier to remember.
ANNIVERSARY
We began our Chapel Anniversary Celebration on 6th October with a Bacon Butty Breakfast before the service (veggy option available). The service was led by Dr Miriam Stevenson, who also enjoyed a bacon butty with us. The inside of the building has changed over the years - the photograph shows the chapel before an organ was installed.
GIFT SERVICE
Our annual Gift Service in November will be in aid of the Food Bank. As the local Food Bank is organised from our premises we are interested to have an update from time to time and someone from the Trussell Trust will be joining us in the service.
EVENTS
A Jacket Potato Supper was a welcome part of our Quiz Night in October. No big prizes - a ‘just for fun’ evening. The questions were compiled by Michael - some easy, some challenging.
A Film Night was organised in early November with archive films of Countesthorpe. An opportunity to reminisce about old Countesthorpe or an opportunity for newer residents to learn more about the village.
Our Christmas Tree Festival will be on 7th December when we will be delighted to welcome once again some of the children from Greenfield School on Gwendoline Drive. The theme for the Festival this year is hobbies.
Please check the Herald Diary or our posters for our Christmas events.

REMEMBRANCE
We again joined other villagers at St. Andrew’s for the annual Remembrance Service on 10th November. The British author, H G Wells coined the phrase ‘The war that will end war’ to describe World War One.
This later became known as ‘The war to end all wars’. Will the world ever learn?
