OCTOBER 2015
U3A
Those members who attended the August monthly meeting were fascinated with the talk about Falconry and Birds of Prey and especially seeing how big the birds are in flight across the village hall and when handled by some of our members. These monthly meetings take place in Countesthorpe village hall on the second Tuesday of each month, with members gathering from 13:30 onwards.
This has been a busy time for our members, with 26 visiting Wengen, Switzerland staying in hotel or self catering accommodation as suited them best and enjoying much better weather than had been forecast; and as we go to press a rather larger group are spending a very busy three days visiting National Trust properties, Stonehenge (hopefully not at dawn) the fascinating Old Sarum, seen in our photograph from rather higher up than the average visitor would expect, and the city Cathedral, all from their base in a Wiltshire hotel. While long standing groups for travel and history meet to plan the season’s outings and regular meetings of most groups carry on as usual, new groups are starting up focussing on Family History, Garden Appreciation and, energetically, ten pin bowling.
Why not pick up a newsletters and ‘what’s on’ listing from the Rainbow Shop or the library? You can also find out more from the comprehensive website, which includes a contact address, at www.countesthorpeu3a.co.uk Just as a footnote — ‘we are by no means an elitist organisation, everyone from any walk of life is more than welcome’.
