6 THE NEW COUNTESTHORPE HERALD
NEW YEAR,
NEW INTEREST?
Many of us take stock of our lives as we approach a New Year. Some of us make resolutions but they can often quickly fade away with a lack of resolve. Whatever the issues in our own lives, becoming involved with helping in our communities can be very rewarding and therapeutic whilst positively contributing to the needs of others.
Commbus volunteers, past and present, have been giving some of their time to help others for well over 20 years. Commbus services are focussed on the older residents of our communities, helping them to maintain a degree of independence and self-worth.
To ensure continuity of this very important community service we urgently need more volunteer bus escorts and drivers to support and enhance our team. Full training and support will be given. We invite you to spend just one morning with us, without any obligation, to experience what we do. Becoming a Commbus volunteer allows you to give of your time as little or as frequent you wish.

CASH FOR PROJECT
A big thank you to all Commbus volunteers, passengers, families, friends and supporters who all pulled together, resulting in Commbus receiving the TOP award in the Leicester Mercury’s recent “Cash for your Community” award, in conjunction with the Nottingham Building Society and Estate Agents, Harrison Murray. Commbus Technical Director, Olly Curran, recently attended a winners’ ceremony, hosted by Harrison Murray, to receive a cheque for over £2100.
This cash award will greatly assist with the ongoing costs of providing its vital services, enabling its users to retain a degree of personal independence and self- worth, whilst also enjoying the social company of others who use Commbus’ services.
Volunteers are always required and there are many and varied roles available. We are looking for drivers, bus escorts, administrators in our Narborough office and also help with our fortnightly Lunch Club and second-hand Book Sales. Please contact us on 2866116 to discuss how you might become involved with such a worthwhile and valued community service.
