Cup and they’ve been out every day, rain or shine,” he said.
“It’s been brilliant to be involved in the recruitment, training and management of these dedicated volunteers to make sure the events in Leicester City Fanzone have been successful and all the visiting fans have been welcomed by friendly faces. “We’d like to thank all the volunteers involved in the Rugby World Cup for their work. Without their passion and dedication Leicester would not have been able to put on such a great event.” Leicestershire resident Elizabeth Chaplin is one of the volunteers VAL recruited for the Fanzone.
“I am having great fun and I have enjoyed speaking to the fantastic fans from around the world,” she said.
“Everyone is mucking in, even when we have quiet periods, and the whole Fanzone is well run and organised. I ... will be sad when it all ends.”

DOLLS HOUSE CLUB –
WHY NOT JOIN US?
The Leicestershire Twelfth Scalers Dolls House and Miniatures Club was started approximately 25years ago.
The Club is for anyone interested in Dolls Houses and their accessories. Most of our Members (but not all) already have a dolls house and enjoy making miniature items. At the moment we have 24 Members who enjoy our monthly meetings which are held on the third Tuesday of every month, except for December, which is the second Tuesday. This is a Christmas Party meeting when we each bring along a plate of food to share, enjoy each other’s company and usually make something to do with Christmas.
We have a Committee of eight people who work very hard to provide our Members with interesting meetings. The meetings are a mixture of making furniture/ accessories, Show & Tell evenings where some Members bring along items they have made and show us how we can do it, and Speakers on various subjects – not always directly connected to Dolls Houses and Miniatures.
Each January, we give the Members a Project to complete. The Committee thinks of the Project and if necessary, provide the kit to start it off. Members then have until September to complete it. In September we hold our AGM and all the Projects are brought to that meeting for everyone to see.
This year we asked the Members to make a porch. They were provided with pieces of card, mountboard and wood to start the project but exactly what sort of porch was up to them to choose. The result was that 15 Members made a porch. Not one of them was the same and very interesting to see what people had done with them.
We also try to have a trip out once a year to one of the Dollhouse Miniatures Shows. This year we went to London to the Kensington Dolls House Festival and next year we hope to go to Pudsey Dolls House Fair just outside Leeds. At these shows there are many stalls of different types of miniature items and also the tools to help you make things. They are a mixture of 12th, 24th and even 144th scale houses, furniture and accessories.
If you are interested in Dollshouses and would like to visit us, you would be very
