JUNE 2016
CONSULTATION
ON ANTI-SOCIAL
BEHAVIOUR
There has been an increase in reports to the police and Blaby’s ASB team of anti- social behaviour from some young people in Countesthorpe since last September. Most of the complaints have centred around groups of young people causing damage, littering, being abusive and being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
In response to the reports, local Police teams have been carrying out daily targeted patrols with the Council’s ASB Officer. There has also been work with individuals and families offering support and advice.
Positive activities have already been put in place, including using the BB19 Youth Bus and providing sports sessions organised by the Youth Offending IMPACT Team to engage with young people. Despite this work, however, a group of young people continue to cause Anti-social behaviour in the village. Another option open to the Council is to implement a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) which restricts behaviour of individuals and groups in public areas. The Council are considering implementing a PSPO for public spaces
