To set up a sub group to consider future locations of the hanging baskets and design options for the Buckingham Memorial Planter.
To write to Blaby & Whetstone Football Club
to request that they remove all items from the portacabin located at Willoughby Road Playing Field in preparation for its removal at a later date.
For the trial of the gates to Willoughby Road Plying Field being left unlocked to end with the resolution that the gates would be permanently left open, having taken into consideration all feedback from residents, local Police, Council staff and Councillors. Also, to write to those residents who had fed back regarding the trial to advise them of the outcome.
REPORT COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT WORKING PARTY
The report of the Community Engagement Working Party meeting held 20th July 2023 was received. It was resolved to approve the following recommendations of the working party and the report be adopted.
To agree the provisional date and times for
the proposed Christmas event as follows, 1st December with groups to gather at their start points at 6pm and to convene at the Church
for lights switch on at 7.30pm. Note – Due to conflicting events, the date of the event required further discussion and a provisional alternative date of 2nd December was set.
For Father Christmas to switch on the Christmas tree lights and to be contacted as soon as possible to check his availability.
For those taking part in the carol singing and collection walks to dress up in costumes.
For food collected for the foodbank to be stored at the Bridge with collection arranged for the next available day.
To stop at Brook Court and Cherry Tree Care Home to sing carols along the route to St Andrew’s Church.
To liaise with other organisations and schools to ensure that the proposed date for the Christmas event does not clash with any of their arrangements.
To contact The Foodbank to enquire whether they would be happy for us to collect Christmas items for donation at our end and, if so, to ask for a list of items required.

 To contact The Herald to ask whether they would be happy to include a full spread promoting the event in the 9th November edition.
To see whether any of the following groups/ businesses would like to be involved in the event in any way and, if so, to invite to the next meeting:
Local Church groups, The Scouts, Girl Guides, Active Arts (would they be interested in hosting lantern making sessions), Cricket Club, Bowls Club, Local pubs/restaurants
REPORTS PLANNING COMMITTEE
The reports of the Planning Committee meetings held 27th July 2023 and 10th August 2023 were received.
REPORT STRATEGIC PLANNING & POLICY COMMITTEE
The report of the Strategic Planning & Policy Committee meeting held 31st July 2023 was received.
MATTERS THE PARISH COUNCIL MANAGER MAY WISH TO RAISE
It was noted that the Community Safety Partnership Summer newsletter had been received and would be circulated to Councillors.
REPORT FINANCE WORKING PARTY
The report of the Finance Working Party meeting held 9th August 2023 was received.
It was resolved to approve the following recommendations of the working party and the report be adopted.
To approve, in principal, accepting the quotation for the purchase and installation of Christmas lights on the tree outside of the village hall but to obtain comparison quotes in the meantime.
To investigate replacement options for the office photocopier following notification from Xerox that the current photocopier would no longer be serviced from 3rd January 2024.
Regarding the proposed storage container
in Cemetery B, due to the continued lack of clarification from the insurance provider, to proceed with utilising the existing storage method for the Cemetery throughout the remainder of this year, and to refer to the Estates Working Party to consider alternative options with regards to the Cemetery storage.
DATE OF THE NEXT MEETING
The date of the next meeting is scheduled for Thursday 14th September 2023 at 7.30pm.
